Can you give us some details about the solutions that you will present at the second edition of INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA in 2018?

The future of material handling will be revealed in a demonstration of a radically new concept in line-sorting, together with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) tours of the ultimate warehouse and distribution centre,
The BG Line Sorter sets new benchmarks for mid-volume material handling by combining the simplicity of a line sorter with the handling capabilities of high-speed cross-belt sortation. By enabling a wide handling mix to be sorted on a single system, the BG Line Sorter reduces the percentage of non-conveyable items to lower the overall handling cost per item.


INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA is positioned within The Innovation Alliance platform co-located with shows such as PLAST, IPACK-IMA, MEAT-TECH, PRINT4ALL. What are the advantages of this for your company?

The Innovation Allliance is a great forum for sharing future-oriented logistics concepts and solutions. BEUMER Group’s culture is based on creativity and innovation so sharing a platform with like-minded companies is inspiring. Our most recent innovations include the introduction of a new class of line sorter and Linear Synchronous Motor technology which reduces energy consumption by 75% compared to conventional motors. Today, BEUMER is looking at how Big Data and Machine Learning with Neural Networks can advance the accuracy and efficiency of automated material handling systems.

In your opinion, what will intralogistics look like in the future? Looking at the market figures for the sector and future forecasts, what are your expectations?

With the massive rise in e-commerce, the volume of parcels has reached the point at which companies who continue to use conventional systems will no longer be able to maintain their competitive edge.
Automating the material handling process can be an important element in helping companies to meet the demand for higher capacity and growth. Automation can increase the speed, accuracy and control of the material flow and allow for systems to be extended with minimal downtime. They also enable companies to respond to trends such as later cut-off times as well as faster and more flexible delivery options.
